I've been listening to Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias. After listening a while now, I understand his foundational beliefs, and those found in famous fellow apologist CS Lewis' writings, are that we cannot avoid values. The godless leftists have values that also cannot be explained strictly by science. Christians start with the value of human life, but the question is, Where does that particular value come from? It comes from the Bible. In Genesis Chapter 1, God create man as His crowning achievement. He made man and woman in his image and likeness. We are valuable because we are made by the Supreme Being and we are made like Him.
Leftists think man is a scourge to the earth, hence, the defense of abortion. Obama in the Illinois legislature defended abandoning abortion survivors to die, referring to these babies as "temporarily alive." But again, where does this value come from? It comes from the belief that we are nothing special, that all living creatures are created as equally important. The universe to the leftist is is filled with living and non-living objects which are equally valuable. Under this belief system, there are many spirits in the universe. Darwinian evolution, a badly damaged theory at best, allows the godless leftists to worship all matter as "God." The trees cry out when they are cut down, and humans should be ashamed of living in houses made of these murdured trees.
Killing babies in their mothers' wombs merely slows the killing of millions of these equally important life forces, the trees. Mother Earth herself is crying out for justice because she is being choked on our own exhaled carbon dioxide. No, values cannot be avoided, and worshipping someone or something is intrinsic to all people.
Zacharias is the first Christian intellectual to point out to me the importance of following the logic of one's belief system to some ineluctable conclusions to uncover whether the system of belief is tenable. Here, then, is the folly of the godless left. A single, omnipotent God didn't create everything because the imposition of a moral framework inherent in this concept would allow some to judge the behavior of others as right or wrong based on the purpose for which things were created. Because there is no "creator God," we ourselves can ascribe to all things the spiritual reality behind the universe as long as it "feels" right to the individual. In the absence of God, we must appoint ourselves to that role. This appointment may be at the basis of godless leftism in the first place.
The "equality" of all things in this system of thought does indeed allow us to be free from other's judgements about our behavior but it begs the question as to whether society can judge and punish bad behavior if nothing is bad or wrong as long as it right to the individual. Chaos is the result, and the only way back to order is by a strong man who can achieve security for our society. Now the society is under judgement again; this time it is the judgement of the strong man, whose pronouncements may be for the good of society but may just as likely be for the good of himself at the expense of everyone else in society.
The ineluctable conclusion of a godless society is a further evidence a God created us as moral beings and expects us to discover and live by His code.
We cannot sit idly by while the society is "reinvented" by godless leftists because future generations will be affected negatively by our inaction. We can protest loudly that our traditional values should not be thrown aside as the new bondage is imposed on the society, either the bondage of addictions or the bondage of the strong man. We can keep the nation free by encouraging people to be the servants of the God who made us. Then we can stand up to any of our fellow men and say, "I have only one master, and you are not Him." Live out Truth in our lives, and the Truth will set us free.
